Buying a New Bed? Here's What You Need to Know!

Choosing a new bed is a big decision — after all, we spend about a third of our lives sleeping! At Kiwi Home Store, we’re passionate about helping Kiwis find the perfect bed for better sleep and better health. If you’re starting your bed shopping journey, here are a few tips to help you make the right choice:

1. Think About Support
The most important job of a mattress is to support your body properly. If a mattress is too soft or too firm, it can throw your spine out of alignment and cause aches and pains. Everyone’s body is different, so it's important to choose something that feels right for you. We always recommend trying out a few options in-store if you can!

2. Consider Your Base
A new mattress can only perform as well as the base it's sitting on. An old or unsupportive base might cause even a great mattress to feel uncomfortable. If your base is more than 8–10 years old, it could be time for an upgrade too!

3. Size Matters
Think about your space and your lifestyle. If you’re sharing the bed, a Queen or King might give you both more room to move. We also offer split options if you and your partner have different comfort needs or occasionally separate the beds.

4. Know Your Comfort Preference
Do you prefer a firmer feel, a soft plushy one, or something in between? If you're not sure, our team can guide you based on your sleeping position (back, side, stomach) and any health concerns like back pain.

5. Ask About Materials and Warranties
A good-quality bed is an investment in your health. Look for trusted brands, NZ-made options, and ask about warranties — they’re a sign of a bed that's built to last.
